Description

  • Own semi-monthly U.S. and Canadian payroll and biweekly Quebec payroll, including commissions, bonuses, filings, tax registrations, and controls.
  • Personally execute payroll cycles when needed and manage ADP, Rippling, and other vendor relationships.
  • Lead benefits strategy, renewals, vendor management, open enrollment, and employee communications.
  • Own leave programs, policies, jurisdictional compliance, and complex or high-risk cases.
  • Administer BambooHR, maintain HR data integrity, and improve HR workflows, policies, reporting, and service delivery.
  • Manage payroll, benefits, and HR budgets; support audits, recordkeeping, workforce reporting, and compliance programs.
  • Administer compensation frameworks, benchmarking, pay bands, job classifications, and annual compensation cycles.
  • Manage, coach, and develop the payroll and People & Culture team while partnering with Finance, IT, HRBPs, and the CHRO.
  • Use AI tools for payroll and benefits analysis, compensation modeling, policy drafting, and reporting.
  • Provide employee support on payroll, benefits, leave, and compensation matters while protecting confidential information.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive payroll, benefits, and HR operations experience, including multi-entity U.S./Canada operations.
  • At least 3–5 years of demonstrated people leadership experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll, tax, benefits, and pay equity or transparency regulations; Quebec payroll experience is preferred.
  • Experience personally running payroll and operating as both a hands-on practitioner and people leader.
  • Experience administering an HRIS such as BambooHR; technical system ownership experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of compensation practices and benchmarking, or strong motivation to develop this capability.
  • Familiarity with EOR arrangements such as Rippling and FLSA/job classification analysis is preferred.
  • Daily experience using AI tools such as Claude or Copilot for research, drafting, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Strong vendor and project management skills, communication, organization, discretion, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred; PLP or CPP designation or progress toward one is preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada and able to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability security clearance.
