Description

  • Conduct market analysis, salary surveys, and benchmarking to maintain competitive and equitable pay.
  • Design, implement, and maintain pay structures, salary grades, job evaluations, and compensation policies.
  • Administer incentive programs, including bonus, commission, and stock option plans.
  • Build compensation metrics, reports, tools, and year-end analyses to support decision-making.
  • Support annual compensation review cycles, including planning, system configuration, testing, and execution.
  • Lead annual and off-cycle compensation processes such as merit increases, promotions, market adjustments, and new hire offers.
  • Advise senior leadership on compensation strategy, budgets, workforce planning, and pay equity.
  • Conduct pay equity analyses and support remediation efforts as needed.
  • Partner with People & Culture, Finance, Legal, and business leaders on compensation solutions.
  • Oversee communication of compensation and benefits information to employees and leaders.
  • Provide backup support for the Benefits Manager and collaborate across Total Rewards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive compensation experience, including at least 2 years at the Manager level.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, trends, and financial reports.
  • Deep understanding of compensation methodologies, job evaluation frameworks, and employment regulations.
  • Experience conducting market pricing and benchmarking independently.
  • Technical proficiency with HRIS systems, including Workday Advanced Compensation Module and ADP payroll software, plus advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex pay structures to employees and leadership.
  • Ability to flex work hours during peak periods and project cycles.
  • Experience supporting compensation programs in a biotech, life sciences, or regulated environment (preferred).
  • Experience in Benefits or Total Rewards (preferred).
  • Experience with global or multi-region compensation programs (preferred).
  • Familiarity with incentive compensation and equity-based plans (preferred).
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or similar certification (preferred).
  • Experience scaling compensation programs in a growing organization (preferred).
  • Must be located on the West Coast in the Pacific Time Zone (PST).

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $131,000 to $145,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for additional discretionary bonuses and incentives.
