Description

  • Build and improve platform features using Python and Django as the core stack.
  • Own features and initiatives end-to-end, from scoping and design through to production.
  • Write well-structured, testable, production-ready code with a strong focus on quality.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to understand platform capabilities and integrate with health data pipelines.
  • Work closely with Product and Design in scrum ceremonies, backlog refinement, and technical discussions.
  • Participate in production support and incident management to debug and resolve platform issues.
  • Document features and technical decisions clearly and consistently.
  • Help define and evolve backend engineering standards across the team.
  • Stay current with the Python and Django ecosystem and bring useful ideas back to the team.

Requirements

  • Strong Python and Django skills, or comparable experience with another Python web framework.
  • Solid understanding of REST API design and SQL database modelling.
  • Comfort working with relational databases and applying strong data modelling principles.
  • Solid experience with AWS, including containers and serverless technologies.
  • Working knowledge of message queuing and stream processing.
  • Experience with observability and CI/CD tooling such as Sentry, Datadog, or CircleCI.
  • Track record of delivering well-designed backend features end-to-end independently.
  • Degree in computing or equivalent experience; emphasis is on what you have built rather than formal education.
  • Nice to have: experience with React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Nice to have: experience working with data engineering workflows, including tools like Airflow.
  • Nice to have: experience with clinical or healthcare systems.
