Description

  • Define the technical strategy and architectural roadmap for the backend platform to improve architecture, products, infrastructure, and processes.
  • Lead dependency management efforts for backend and third-party dependencies, including risk assessment and contingency planning.
  • Oversee planning and rollout of major software releases and platform upgrades from design through production deployment.
  • Drive improvements to developer productivity metrics such as PR CI speed, code review pickup time, and commit velocity.
  • Mentor experienced lead and senior engineers and help develop their skills within the organization.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex performance, scalability, and reliability issues across the platform.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and telemetry to detect and address issues before they become incidents.
  • Collaborate with product managers, security teams, hardware engineers, and other stakeholders to align requirements and resolve conflicts.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and practices to improve systems and internal processes.
  • Serve as the primary technical architect for the Dependencies and Platform domain and a technical liaison across the Core Infra organization.

Requirements

  • 12 years of experience in software development.
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals and domain-driven design.
  • Extensive expertise in architectural patterns, especially in distributed systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep expertise in programming languages such as Go or Python.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to product and platform vision and long-term technical strategy.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system integration.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience experimenting with AI in work or personal projects and interest in learning responsible AI workflows.
  • Experience with Pants, FastAPI, Django, React, Terraform, or Buildkite is preferred.
  • Background in performance optimization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with complex data management for testing, including large datasets and production-like data replication, is preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $216,000 to $324,000 USD for US locations.
  • Participation in the annual cash bonus plan.
  • Equity and sign-on payments may be included in total compensation.

  • Flexible consideration of salary based on skills, experience, education, and work location.
  • Up to 10% travel for onboarding, team meetings, client or partner work, and industry events.
