Description

  • Define the technical direction and architecture for Research Flow’s AI capabilities.
  • Own complex AI engineering initiatives from exploration and prototyping through production delivery and operation.
  • Build generative AI applications using LLMs, RAG, vector search, tool use, and agentic systems.
  • Design scalable machine learning services, APIs, and data pipelines using cloud and container infrastructure.
  • Establish evaluation strategies, benchmarks, monitoring, and release criteria for AI systems.
  • Improve retrieval quality, reliability, performance, security, privacy, and cost across AI services.
  • Create reusable engineering patterns and standards for building and operating AI systems.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions across teams, and communicate trade-offs to technical and nontechnical partners.
  • Prioritize AI investments based on customer needs, feasibility, and measurable business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Significant experience building and operating production machine learning or AI systems, with technical leadership beyond individual projects.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from ambiguous requirements to production outcomes.
  • Strong Python and software engineering skills, including direct production coding experience.
  • Experience designing production services and APIs with frameworks such as FastAPI.
  • Practical experience with generative AI, LLMs, RAG, tool use, or agentic systems.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise RAG, including retrieval architecture, chunking, embeddings, reranking, evaluation, and monitoring.
  • Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience with technologies such as PyTorch, LangChain, LangGraph, Kafka, MLflow, vector databases, Datadog, or OpenSearch.
  • Ability to balance delivery speed, quality, reliability, scalability, security, and cost while influencing without formal authority.
  • Preferred: experience with B2B SaaS, conversational AI, shared AI platforms, Airflow, Argo Workflows, SQL, Spark, Snowflake, or responsible AI and security.
