Description

  • Develop, test, and release new web video experiences on schedule.
  • Work with developers, designers, testers, and product managers to refine features aligned with the web video roadmap.
  • Contribute ideas and evaluate approaches that balance speed to market with long-term scalability.
  • Maintain awareness of new technologies and industry developments that may affect users or delivery capabilities.
  • Ensure high standards for quality, attention to detail, and reliability in web video experiences.
  • Support debugging and problem-solving for complex, time-sensitive issues with peers.
  • Perform additional essential tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a software engineer focused on HTML5 streaming web video player experiences.
  • Deep understanding of web video performance and reliability, including startup time, rebuffering, bitrate switching, autoplay restrictions, browser policies, mobile vs. desktop differences, error handling, fallback strategies, and QoE tracking.
  • Experience implementing web video advertising, including pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll ads.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive/adaptive web design, web accessibility, and website performance analysis/improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven software development.
  • Comfort working in Linux environments.
  • Experience with CDNs such as Akamai or Fastly.
  • Experience using source control tools such as GitHub or GitLab.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
  • Strong debugging skills and the ability to solve complex problems with peers.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, with an emphasis on Agile practices such as XP or Scrum.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle critical issues in time-sensitive situations, with occasional after-hours availability for emergency troubleshooting.
