Description

  • Assess Azure governance, financial management, tagging, resource organization, and policy practices to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Design and implement Azure management group hierarchies, tagging standards, and Azure Policy definitions and initiatives.
  • Build governance-as-code deployment workflows using Terraform and GitHub Actions.
  • Establish policy rollout, exemption, compliance reporting, and remediation processes.
  • Evaluate Azure budgets, alerts, cost allocation, showback/chargeback, and resource ownership practices.
  • Identify, quantify, and communicate cloud optimization opportunities, including right-sizing, reservations, commitments, and idle resources.
  • Facilitate discussions with infrastructure, finance, architecture, data, and executive stakeholders.
  • Coach client cloud administrators through paired implementation and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop reusable governance patterns, technical standards, runbooks, documentation, and handoff materials.
  • Create a FinOps maturity roadmap and prioritized backlog for future transformation phases.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, architecture, DevSecOps, platform engineering, FinOps, governance, or related disciplines.
  • Deep hands-on experience with enterprise Microsoft Azure governance.
  • Strong experience with Azure Management Groups, subscription organization, Azure Policy, custom definitions, initiatives, assignments, exemptions, and compliance reporting.
  • Strong Terraform experience, including building infrastructure and governance deployment workflows.
  • Strong experience with GitHub Actions and Git-based development and deployment practices.
  • Strong understanding of FinOps, Azure Cost Management, billing data, cost allocation, showback/chargeback, and financial reporting.
  • Experience identifying and quantifying optimization opportunities and connecting findings to measurable financial impact.
  • Strong consulting, stakeholder facilitation, communication, documentation, and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple workstreams and coach client teams toward self-sufficiency.
  • Must reside in the United States, have work authorization without current or future sponsorship, and pass a background check.
  • Preferred: experience with AWS or Google Cloud governance, ServiceNow Cloud Cost Management, Power BI, regulated environments, AI or token-based cost modeling, enterprise governance standards, or FinOps certification.
