Description

  • Own backend features end-to-end, including discovery, design, implementation, rollout, and ongoing operations.
  • Design and evolve distributed systems such as services, pipelines, and data stores for performance, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Build and maintain APIs and data access patterns that support analytics and search use cases.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data pipelines that support product features, analytics, and machine learning workloads.
  • Ensure data reliability, quality, and performance across systems, including monitoring and troubleshooting pipelines.
  • Apply strong engineering practices through code reviews, testing, incident readiness, and operational excellence.
  • Run experiments and controlled rollouts, including A/B tests, success metrics, guardrails, and stakeholder readouts.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to ship intelligent, data-driven products.
  • Document systems, pipelines, and architecture, and share knowledge through pairing and code reviews.
  • Use AI coding tools responsibly in implementation, debugging, refactoring, and design reviews.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience building backend systems.
  • Strong general-purpose programming skills and software engineering fundamentals.
  • Solid debugging skills and the ability to troubleshoot and performance-tune production services.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows.
  • Comfort using AI coding assistants like Claude Code, with discipline to validate outputs using tests, metrics, and evaluation.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions.
  • Growth mindset with curiosity, a habit of learning quickly, and openness to feedback.
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines (ETL/ELT) is preferred.
  • Exposure to event-driven architectures, AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML-powered features, data-driven products, or machine learning workflows is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ML libraries/frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch is preferred.
  • Exposure to LLMs, NLP, or generative AI use cases is preferred.
  • Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Airflow, Argo, Dagster, Terraform, Ansible, Grafana, Elasticsearch/Lucene, GraphQL, or streaming data pipelines is preferred.
