Description

  • Participate in client conversations from the early scoping stage to support deeper technical and business discovery.
  • Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective architectures across cloud, AI/ML, data, security, and application modernization domains.
  • Work closely with clients to understand business challenges, technical needs, strategic goals, and adjacent expansion opportunities.
  • Guide cross-functional teams in validating solution approaches and ensuring architecture, security, and delivery feasibility.
  • Partner with account management and sales leadership to shape pursuit strategies, solution approaches, proposals, and technical presentations.
  • Contribute to reusable sales assets such as reference architectures, battle cards, solution briefs, and repeatable plays.
  • Assess existing client environments and recommend performance and optimization improvements that strengthen the business case.
  • Ensure proposed solutions align with relevant security, compliance, and governance standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and SOC 2.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Cloud Services, delivery teams, talent operations, and strategic partners across the engagement lifecycle.
  • Stay current on technology trends, emerging platforms, and best practices to inform Toptal’s services strategy and client discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in solutions architecture, pre-sales engineering, technical consulting, or a related technical field.
  • Broad technical fluency across cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), data and analytics, AI/ML, application modernization, and/or security.
  • Deep specialization in one or more technical areas is valued, but versatility across domains is essential.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as containerization, serverless computing, and microservices architecture.
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with or strong awareness of AI/ML solutions, including generative AI and agentic AI patterns, in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with cloud migration strategies, hybrid environments, and/or application modernization approaches.
  • Solid grasp of cloud networking concepts such as VPCs, firewalls, load balancing, and DNS.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company and manage a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and contacts.
  • Remote role; resumes and communication must be submitted in English.
