Description

  • Own end-to-end accountability for the health, performance, capacity, and evolution of the mobile core platform running in AWS.
  • Act as the primary technical interface between TextNow and the mobile core vendor's Managed Services team and carrier partners.
  • Review vendor-proposed changes and architectural decisions, identify issues before production, and ensure SLA accountability.
  • Oversee software upgrade cycles, coordinate maintenance windows, and support smooth production rollouts.
  • Design and deliver AI-driven operational tooling for performance analysis, automated diagnostics, and faster root cause analysis.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship across the Telecom Engineering pod and grow into people leadership as the team scales.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, troubleshoot incidents, drive resolution, and lead post-mortems with corrective actions.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and other pods to prioritize network work and translate requirements into executable plans.
  • Develop and improve monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling for core network health.
  • Evaluate new technologies and drive automation initiatives that reduce operational burden.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in SRE, infrastructure engineering, or network engineering.
  • Track record of operating complex, high-availability platforms at scale.
  • Deep understanding of IP networking, routing, tunneling protocols, DNS, and DPI.
  • Ability to reason about packet flows across distributed systems and debug from the wire up.
  • Experience managing vendor or managed-service relationships for critical infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure, including EC2, EKS, and VPC networking, or an equivalent cloud platform.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship experience.
  • Comfort handling production incidents, root cause analysis, and long-term reliability fixes.
  • AI-first mindset with experience using AI tools for incident triage, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with mobile core network operations, including LTE/5G EPC/NSA, HSS, PGW/SGW, PCRF, or similar functions, preferred.
  • Understanding of 3GPP standards, Diameter, GTP, or mobile packet core architecture, preferred.
  • Experience at an MVNO or with carrier/MVNO-specific network challenges, preferred.
  • Familiarity with IMS or VoLTE deployments, SIP, SMPP, or SMTP, preferred.
