Description

  • Own the strategy, standards, and execution for the compute layer across design, delivery, and operations.
  • Lead, hire, coach, and grow a high-ownership engineering team.
  • Guide the transition from current compute capabilities to next-generation compute platforms.
  • Run operations for the compute service, including on-call, incident response, and blameless postmortems.
  • Make architectural decisions for large-scale, multi-tenant compute across isolation, security, scheduling, efficiency, and performance.
  • Own utilization, capacity planning, supply planning, and cost and margin management for the fleet.
  • Partner with Product, SDK, UX/DX, Security, leadership, and design-partner customers to align priorities and unblock delivery.
  • Review technical artifacts such as design docs and code to raise the quality bar and keep execution on track.
  • Drive predictable, iterative delivery in an ambiguous and fast-moving environment.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in software and/or infrastructure engineering.
  • 7+ years of people management experience with ownership of delivery and live-site outcomes.
  • Proven experience leading teams that build and operate large-scale compute platforms or fleets.
  • Deep distributed-systems and compute infrastructure experience with hands-on architectural judgment.
  • Experience operating multi-tenant compute that supports production workloads.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across engineering, product, and leadership.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
  • Experience with on-call, incident management, and postmortem-driven reliability practices.
  • Preferred: experience with microVMs and virtualization technologies such as Firecracker, gVisor, or Edera, or managed-compute primitives such as AWS Fargate, GCP Cloud Run, or AWS Lambda.
  • Preferred: experience with Kubernetes internals.
  • Preferred: experience building serverless or hosted-compute products from 0 to 1.
  • Preferred: multi-cloud delivery across AWS and GCP.
  • Preferred: experience with cold-start, warm-pool, and scheduling/latency optimization for on-demand compute.
  • Preferred: experience with agent sandboxes, secure execution of untrusted code, or AI-agent infrastructure.
  • Preferred: experience with GPU or accelerated compute, including fractional GPUs, GPU scheduling, training versus inference fleets, and multi-tenant GPU isolation.

  • Estimated base pay range of $320,000 to $335,000.
