Description

  • Own the full payments operations lifecycle, including merchant onboarding, underwriting, transaction monitoring, dispute management, and escalation handling.
  • Define and manage core operational metrics such as approval rates, loss rates, dispute win rates, time-to-decision, and cost per account.
  • Build reporting infrastructure including dashboards, data pipelines, and operational scorecards to provide real-time visibility into payments health.
  • Use operational data to identify trends, surface risk early, drive decisions, and hold the team accountable to outcomes.
  • Present payments performance and business results clearly to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Drive the transition from manual operations to automated and AI-assisted decisioning.
  • Deploy rules-based and AI-assisted workflows that reduce manual overhead while maintaining risk controls.
  • Own portfolio-level loss performance while balancing growth, risk appetite, and customer experience.
  • Design and refine underwriting and monitoring strategies as GMV scales and emerging risks evolve.
  • Maintain controls aligned with Stripe infrastructure and card network obligations, and manage the operational relationship with Stripe and other partners.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in payments operations, risk, or fintech, with vertical SaaS or embedded payments experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience owning portfolio-level KPIs and accountability for operational outcomes.
  • Experience building operational reporting infrastructure from the ground up, including dashboards, scorecards, and data frameworks.
  • Strong analytical instincts and the ability to identify the metrics that matter most.
  • Experience leading an operational team through a manual-to-automated transition.
  • Deep familiarity with acquiring, underwriting, disputes, fraud, and chargeback management.
  • Demonstrated success building or deploying AI-assisted decisioning in an operations context, such as rules engines, agent workflows, or ML-informed approaches.
  • Stripe experience is required.
  • Embedded fintech infrastructure fluency is required.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to drive projects to completion across departments.
  • Experience partnering with Legal and Finance on compliance reporting, audit readiness, and internal control standards is a plus.
