Description

  • Support internal business units by building shared engineering services, tools, and processes.
  • Own end-to-end projects that address the needs of multiple stakeholders across the organization.
  • Work directly with internal customer-facing teams and product engineering to support their goals and data needs.
  • Design, build, test, and document core software components as part of an engineering team.
  • Improve observability through metrics, alerting, logging, and telemetry integration.
  • Identify and implement improvements to continuous deployment workflows.
  • Use infrastructure as code to make changes in cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams on cross-functional infrastructure improvements.
  • Automate upgrades for managed services and virtual machines.
  • Own the running services that comprise Tailscale’s product, including observability, incident response, and customer support escalations.
  • Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of system resources.

Requirements

  • Experience with CI/CD, secrets management, infrastructure as code, and observability.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience operating managed services in a cloud environment, preferably AWS.
  • Experience operating Kubernetes in production is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts such as IP addressing and routing.
  • Experience with Go is a plus; much of the non-front-end system is built in Go.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and work independently.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
