Description

  • Draft, analyze, and advance education legislation and regulatory proposals.
  • Monitor legislative and administrative developments affecting education policy.
  • Develop and execute legislative strategies through direct engagement with legislators, staff, and executive branch officials.
  • Prepare policy memos, talking points, testimony, and legislative summaries.
  • Manage and coordinate coalitions focused on education freedom, microschools, and parental rights.
  • Facilitate coalition meetings, briefings, and coordinated advocacy efforts.
  • Cultivate relationships with nonprofits, community leaders, policymakers, funders, and other potential partners.
  • Translate policy priorities into clear communications for policymakers, partners, and the public.
  • Write op-eds, policy briefs, reports, and other public-facing materials.
  • Build grassroots networks and conduct community outreach to support education initiatives.
  • Support fundraising efforts through donor engagement, grant support, proposals, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Ideally 4+ years of experience in education policy, legislative processes, and advocacy strategy.
  • Open to candidates with 2+ years of experience if otherwise well qualified.
  • Experience in coalition building, stakeholder engagement, or public policy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Experience engaging communities and building broad-based support for policy initiatives.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and communication platforms.
  • Working knowledge of digital platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and X.
  • Philosophical alignment with liberty, free markets, limited government, and parents’ central role in children’s education.
  • Ability to travel in-state and to the DMV area, with up to 15% travel and occasional evening or weekend commitments.
