Description

  • Define and drive the ML engineering strategy for Discovery Mode and related royalty programs.
  • Design, build, evaluate, deploy, and refine production ML systems at scale.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex ML initiatives and architectural decisions.
  • Collaborate with research, design, product, data science, and engineering teams to develop artist-focused capabilities.
  • Prototype new approaches and convert successful ideas into reliable, scalable customer solutions.
  • Lead experimentation, optimization, testing, and tooling to improve ML system quality and effectiveness.
  • Partner with ML practitioners across Spotify, including Music Tech Research and Personalization, on music promotion approaches.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering practices, knowledge sharing, and technical capability development.

Requirements

  • Deep experience with machine learning algorithms, modeling, evaluation, and experimentation.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing production ML systems at scale.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or similar programming languages.
  • Ability to set technical direction while remaining involved in implementation and delivery.
  • Experience leading technically complex projects from concept through production.
  • Strong understanding of reliable software, data-informed development, and disciplined experimentation.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, evaluate trade-offs, and create clarity on high-impact initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical decisions and building alignment with senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with an interest in supporting artists and their teams.

  • United States base salary of $227,495–$324,993, plus equity.
