Description

  • Provide weekend operational coverage as part of the DevOps/DBA team (coverage includes Saturday–Monday as part of the rota).
  • Improve and streamline infrastructure and deployment processes for the six countries currently in production and enable rapid rollout to new countries.
  • Holistically optimize DevOps infrastructure to reduce costs, streamline environment provisioning, and lower response times.
  • Monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure using autoscaling, automated alerts, AWS OpsWorks, Grafana dashboards, and other tooling.
  • Take ownership of cloud operations and respond to production incidents and operational issues.
  • Liaise with external security agencies for annual audits and conduct internal security sweeps and remediation.
  • Reconfigure architecture to support rapid deployments and scaling for new markets.
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members and share operational best practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of DevOps experience.
  • Based in Europe or Asia (remote role with regional requirement).
  • Proven experience independently leading the planning and deployment of projects.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS, and practical knowledge of utilising cloud resources to meet production demand (EC2, VPC, Lambda, EBS, S3).
  • Sound understanding of modern microservices and service mesh concepts.
  • Experience managing Kubernetes (including CI/CD for Kubernetes) and containerization (Docker, Rancher).
  • Solid networking knowledge, especially TCP/IP stack and HTTP protocols.
  • Strong understanding of caching and CDN strategies, including HTTP cache, Redis / Memcached and Cloudflare.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills including Linux OS diagnosis and OS parameter optimisation; JVM optimisation experience is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and tooling (Drone, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins), configuration/maintenance tools (AWS OpsWorks, Salt, Chef), monitoring and logging stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, ELK) and typical backend components (MySQL/Oracle, messaging, Nginx).
