Description

  • Run short Academic Launches live over webcam to set the tone and engage students before coursework begins.
  • Lead academic blocks on video and keep students focused on their schoolwork throughout the session.
  • Build individual relationships with students to understand their interests, motivations, and barriers to engagement.
  • Motivate students to complete their work, maintain momentum, and uphold academic expectations.
  • Track each student’s daily progress, including completed work and areas where they are stuck.
  • Flag patterns, challenges, and student needs to the broader team for support.
  • Communicate daily session updates to the team, including what is working and which students need help.

Requirements

  • Strong rapport with kids and the ability to connect with young people quickly.
  • Ability to host fun, engaging Academic Launches live on webcam; this is a core requirement.
  • High energy and comfort being on camera for extended periods.
  • Ability to be warm while still holding students to a clear standard.
  • Reliable, consistent, and able to show up online ready to work every day.
  • Quiet workspace, working laptop or desktop, decent webcam, and stable internet connection.
  • No teaching background, specific degree, or years of classroom experience required.
  • Experience with student-athletes through coaching, training, mentoring, or tutoring is a plus.
  • Tutoring or academic support experience is a plus, even if informal.
  • Comfort learning new technology tools quickly and handling screen or technical issues calmly.
  • A bank of games, icebreakers, or video-based activities is a plus.
