Description

  • Own major Android features from product decisions through release, collaborating with Design and Product.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
  • Unblock engineers and consolidate shared solutions into maintainable team standards.
  • Improve testing, release automation, and verification processes to reduce manual intervention.
  • Plan team work, establish appropriate review requirements, and drive improvements to development practices.
  • Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
  • Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful work and learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership or ownership of a major product surface while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
  • Strong understanding of software testing, including test coverage limitations.
  • Track record of introducing engineering practices or systems that teams adopted successfully.
  • Experience building reusable solutions used by the broader team.
  • Ability to evaluate appropriate levels of code review based on system risk.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort driving changes to team processes.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, and interest in improving Android UI/UX beyond requirements.
  • Ability to explain how teams work with AI agents.
  • Open source Android experience preferred; iOS, Web, or NodeJS experience is a bonus.
