Description

  • Own the technical health, roadmap, and long-term evolution of the Phone Billing platform.
  • Lead high-impact initiatives from discovery and architecture through implementation, rollout, and measurement.
  • Design scalable systems for usage metering, rating, charging, reconciliation, idempotency, credits, refunds, and auditability.
  • Architect CPaaS services, provider adapters, and messaging and voice APIs supporting billions of monthly events.
  • Evolve Revenue Growth into a configuration-driven, rules-based platform that adapts to regulatory and carrier requirements.
  • Improve reliability, latency, throughput, observability, resilience, and cost efficiency across high-concurrency workflows.
  • Establish financial and technical monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and incident-response practices using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Finance, Legal, Security, infrastructure, and provider-integration teams on architecture, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Develop engineering leaders and senior engineers while contributing to design reviews, technical deep dives, and on-call rotations.
  • Use LLMs and AI tools for development, testing, refactoring, and debugging with appropriate reliability guardrails.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a Staff Engineer role.
  • Experience designing fault-tolerant systems operating at billions of hits or events.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous job processing.
  • Experience building correctness-critical systems such as billing, payments, ledgers, or metering, including idempotency, exactly-once semantics, and reconciliation.
  • Experience improving availability, performance, and reliability in production systems under load.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL data models for complex transactional data.
  • Experience designing policy- or rules-driven systems that adapt to external requirements.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, SLOs, root-cause analysis, and production operations.
  • Experience with NestJS, Firestore, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, queuing systems, data warehouses, and service-mesh microservices.
  • Preferred: usage-based billing engines, telecom compliance regimes, provider-agnostic integrations, communication APIs such as Twilio or Plivo, AI tools, or open-source and engineering-content contributions.
