Description

  • Design, build, and launch backend services incorporating LLMs, machine learning models, and other AI systems.
  • Develop production workflows for inference, structured outputs, tool use, retrieval, and agentic applications.
  • Partner with Data Scientists to productionize models and experimental approaches.
  • Create evaluation, observability, and feedback systems for AI performance.
  • Design reliable architectures that account for probabilistic and non-deterministic model behavior.
  • Work with structured and unstructured clinical and operational data, including documents and images.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, and clinical teams to iterate on product ideas.
  • Improve scalable backend architecture and support applications and AI systems in production.
  • Protect patient privacy and security through secure coding and data-handling practices.
  • Research and advocate for evolving applied AI techniques and development practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience, including significant backend and cloud systems experience.
  • Expertise in Python and/or TypeScript with strong software engineering fundamentals.
  • Production experience building LLM-powered applications and integrating models into larger software systems.
  • Experience collaborating with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, or research teams.
  • Experience designing APIs, services, data models, and asynchronous or event-driven workflows.
  • Experience with Postgres or a similar relational database and cloud-native distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with evaluating, debugging, and monitoring AI systems in production.
  • Strong judgment around reliability, testing, observability, and failure handling for probabilistic systems.
  • Experience working in security-conscious environments and strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: experience with traditional ML, generative AI, LangChain, LangGraph, Langfuse, Braintrust, RAG, tool-calling, agentic workflows, computer vision, multimodal models, OCR, Kubernetes, HL7/FHIR, Snowflake, Datadog, health tech, or scale-up companies.

  • $190,000–$230,000 base salary.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with the company covering 75% of premiums depending on the plan.
