Description

  • Build and maintain relationships with authorized distributors within the assigned territory.
  • Identify regional market opportunities and develop strategies to penetrate those markets.
  • Prospect for solar installers and work with authorized distributor partners to expand sales.
  • Grow SMA sales by strengthening installer relationships and increasing portfolio share through channel partners.
  • Execute brand and messaging strategies that position SMA as an industry leader.
  • Develop strategic alliances with key partners through authorized channel partners.
  • Conduct outreach to current and prospective customers and schedule meetings to discuss PV technologies and solutions.
  • Represent SMA at conferences, tradeshows, NEC code events, and industry symposiums.
  • Promote SMA technology to distributors and installers and help convert customers from competitors.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records of customer activity and pipeline.
  • Travel to Rocklin, customer meetings, tradeshows, and periodic business trips to Canada as needed.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a sales or account manager role.
  • Solar or renewable energy industry sales experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within a distribution channel is preferred.
  • Understanding of residential solar/PV design and hybrid battery storage solutions.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with distributors, installers, and key industry partners.
  • General construction, electrical, or project management experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferably electrical or mechanical engineering, is a plus.
  • Valid passport required for periodic travel to Canada.
  • Knowledge of value selling principles and key account management is preferred.
  • Strong project management, organizational, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across channel partner organizations and work both collaboratively and independently in a matrix organization.
  • Proficiency in English is required; German and/or Spanish are a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems is strongly preferred.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are required.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and to Canada as needed.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • SMA America does not offer employment visa sponsorship of any kind, including H-1B, OPT, CPT, or TN visas.

  • Candidates on temporary work permits or other visa-tied work authorization are not eligible.

  • OTE compensation of $118,500–$133,000 at 100% of target, with potential to earn above target through overachievement.
