Description

  • Lead the design, development, and scaling of core Java-based backend services for a multi-tenant platform.
  • Architect and optimize platform components for high-throughput, low-latency, mission-critical workflows.
  • Integrate and manage core data systems such as relational databases, Redis, Elasticsearch, and LDAP.
  • Modernize backend services by refactoring legacy Java components and introducing reactive and event-driven patterns.
  • Establish best practices for Java development, testing, observability, and deployment in a microservices environment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, Security, SRE, and Application Engineering teams.
  • Design and implement scalable solutions for authentication, authorization, tenant isolation, and configuration management.
  • Mentor engineers on Java design, debugging complex issues, and reliability engineering.
  • Develop platform APIs, service orchestration logic, and critical operational workflows.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in Java services, including JVM tuning, GC, threading, and memory usage.
  • Build automation and guardrails to improve developer productivity and service reliability.
  • Partner with architecture and leadership on long-term technical strategy and platform evolution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining scalable backend platforms supporting millions of users or high concurrency.
  • Deep understanding of the Java ecosystem, JVM internals, memory management, performance tuning, and multithreading.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and LDAP.
  • Experience designing and supporting multi-tenant architectures with isolation, resource control, and configuration management.
  • Strong experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and platform-level abstractions.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS or other cloud providers.
  • Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, plus log management tools such as the ELK stack.
  • Experience integrating authentication and identity providers such as LDAP, SSO, and OIDC into Java services.
  • Strong command of DevOps and automation practices, including CI/CD, GitOps, and IaC tools such as Terraform, Helm, or Ansible.
  • Proven leadership in cross-team collaboration, mentoring, and influencing architectural direction.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
