Description

Set the vision and strategic roadmap for applying data science, machine learning, and AI to complex telecommunications problems.
Lead independent and collaborative research to develop cutting-edge models with high-impact outcomes.
Mentor junior and senior data scientists and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Coordinate with software engineering, data engineering, design, and AI solution directors to build scalable products and services.
Advance the team’s use of data science, MLOps, decision science, predictive modeling, and AI ethics.
Communicate complex data science concepts and business impacts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Work with stakeholders to improve data quality and data pipelines.
Provide broader data science leadership across Sand and help scale the industry team.
Operate effectively in small teams while contributing to globally coordinated efforts.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in data science and machine learning.
Proven track record of independent research, development, and deploying machine learning models into production.
M.Sc. or equivalent advanced degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field preferred.
Prior experience in the telecommunications industry is highly advantageous.
Fluency in Python.
Strong experience with at least one cloud provider, preferably AWS.
Demonstrated experience mentoring colleagues and supporting their technical and professional growth.
Proven ability to create roadmaps and lead cross-functional teams at scale.
Strong MLOps background and understanding of software engineering, data engineering, and data science integration.
Strong background in statistics and machine learning algorithms; experience in causal data science is beneficial but not essential.
Comfort operating in internationally distributed, highly collaborative teams using virtual collaboration tools and video conferencing.
Strong ownership, self-motivation, discipline, and clear communication skills.
