Description

  • Lead development of evaluation frameworks, metrics, and methodologies for autonomous system performance.
  • Align evaluation metrics with automotive safety standards, safety cases, and launch-readiness decisions.
  • Monitor evaluation data and metric reliability for drift, inconsistencies, and degradation.
  • Apply and develop statistical methods for simulation and on-road performance analysis.
  • Identify edge cases and coverage gaps, converting findings into procedural or generative simulation scenarios.
  • Establish correlations between on-road and simulation results to improve evaluation decisions.
  • Analyze large datasets, investigate anomalies, and communicate actionable findings to technical leaders and stakeholders.
  • Create self-service tools that help developers understand the impact of autonomy-stack changes.
  • Advise cross-functional teams, establish data-use best practices, and mentor fellow engineers.
  • Introduce machine-learning methods for performance evaluation where they improve rigor and scale.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience solving complex problems with large datasets.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Robotics, Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field; Master’s or PhD preferred.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills and experience with data-analysis libraries for large datasets.
  • Experience with advanced statistical and machine-learning methods, including hypothesis testing, causal analysis, and data analysis.
  • Ability to frame ambiguous questions as rigorous, data-driven analyses and minimize bias in evaluation.
  • Ability to work independently and lead projects from problem definition through actionable results.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical findings to engineers and leadership.
  • Experience with adversarial scenario generation or closed-loop simulation preferred.
  • Experience in autonomous driving or robotics evaluation preferred.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, distributed computing, AWS, automotive safety standards, deep learning, sequence modeling, or uncertainty quantification preferred.
