Description

  • Lead the design and implementation of critical AI product initiatives on edge devices.
  • Develop tactical AI solutions as well as longer-term research efforts.
  • Work with petabyte-scale customer operations data, including text, transactions, diagnostics, sensor, camera, and location data.
  • Partner across business units to prototype new AI experiences and improve ML model performance on edge devices.
  • Stay current with industry and academic research and adopt novel technologies that fit Samsara’s needs.
  • Collaborate with ML engineers, scientists, full-stack engineers, and firmware engineers to deliver product features, services, and optimizations.
  • Participate in customer interviews and work with customer success and product managers to improve customer outcomes.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles while helping scale the team globally.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer.
  • Strong experience optimizing ML models and systems for edge compute constraints.
  • Proficiency with Spark, Ray, or a similar framework.
  • Experience coding in Python or a similar language.
  • Experience coding in C++ or Rust.
  • Strong understanding of the iterative machine learning product development process.
  • Experience developing and shipping production code at large scale.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous customer and business requirements into clear problem definitions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical peers and leadership teams.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring ML engineers.
  • Ability to work remotely from Canada.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Experience self-serving data for experiments and model training at scale is preferred.
  • A track record of high-impact AI deliveries is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of state-of-the-art computer vision and multimodal models is preferred.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary of CAD $170,400 to $234,300.
  • Eligibility for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff.
