Description

  • Build and lead the New Product Sales Engineering organization, including its operating model and success metrics.
  • Hire, develop, coach, and retain an inclusive, high-performing team of specialist sales engineers.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Product Marketing on go-to-market strategy, technical positioning, and field enablement.
  • Lead executive-level customer engagements, technical discovery, solution architecture, and proof-of-value initiatives.
  • Develop repeatable technical sales plays and proof-of-value frameworks that support adoption and transition to mainline sales teams.
  • Own team performance against adoption, pipeline influence, and revenue goals for new products.
  • Create structured feedback loops from the field to Product and Engineering to inform roadmap prioritization.
  • Ensure alignment between specialist SEs, mainline SEs, and broader go-to-market teams for a cohesive customer experience.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles and foster a culture of learning, experimentation, and accountability.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university.
  • 7+ years of experience managing a technical team, ideally in a sales engineering capacity.
  • Proven success in hiring, developing, and retaining leadership talent.
  • Experience creating scalable feedback loops to support process improvements and scaling activities.
  • Experience with sales engineering capacity planning across different global segments.
  • Experience building processes and integrating software tools to measure organizational performance across the build/sales lifecycle.
  • Experience driving product development from input from Sales Leadership, prospects, and customers.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, and Support.
  • Success managing relationships with external technology partners through complex sales cycles.
  • BS or MS in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university (preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience managing a Sales Engineering team selling cloud-managed hardware product lines (preferred).
  • Experience partnering with go-to-market teams in frontier markets to increase sales and drive product development (preferred).
  • Experience defining roles and responsibilities through corporate change and team growth (preferred).
  • Experience managing an organizational budget (preferred).
  • Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including CAN bus and PTO applications (preferred).
  • Hobbyist interest in electronic systems such as car audio, classic car restoration, home automation, Raspberry Pi, or Arduino (preferred).
