Description

  • Advise the COO and leadership team on people strategy, organizational design, compensation, benefits, and workforce risks.
  • Own employee lifecycle processes from onboarding through offboarding.
  • Manage payroll, benefits administration, HR systems, records, policies, and compliance across multiple states.
  • Support internationally based employees through the company’s Employer of Record provider.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee questions, concerns, and sensitive employee-relations matters.
  • Coach managers on performance conversations, feedback, development plans, and employee support.
  • Own full-cycle recruiting, including job descriptions, interview plans, ATS management, candidate communications, offers, and onboarding.
  • Run performance review cycles and support career development, learning, and internal growth programs.
  • Lead culture, engagement, internal communications, retreats, team gatherings, and distributed-team connection initiatives.
  • Travel regularly to the Denver and San Francisco offices, quarterly leadership meetings, and the annual company retreat.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on HR or People Operations experience.
  • Experience independently managing full-cycle recruiting, including ATS administration, candidate communication, interview coordination, offers, and onboarding.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting managers and handling employee relations with empathy and accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-growing, evolving company.
  • Experience as the sole or primary HR professional in a small or growing organization preferred.
  • Experience supporting distributed or remote-first teams preferred.
  • International HR or Employer of Record experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Gusto, Workable, or similar HRIS, payroll, and ATS platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting hourly and salaried employees; outdoor, retail, consumer goods, or startup experience preferred.
