Description

Lead development of major team-scoped projects and contribute to cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
Collaborate with product and engineering partners to provide feedback, suggest solutions, and improve product direction.
Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
Review code and contribute to the shared codebase.
Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
Participate in support rotations, hiring processes, RFC discussions, and other non-team engineering activities.
Mentor and guide other engineers.
Investigate, propose, and help implement platform improvements.
Design interfaces with performance, accessibility, and API design in mind.
Design, build, and operationalize agentic workflows end-to-end using specification, planning, execution, and verification loops.
Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives that can be applied across domains.
Use tests, checks, evals, and guardrails to ensure work is correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.

Requirements

Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them through iteration.
Ability to think in systems, including defining specs clearly, breaking down plans, instrumenting verification, and closing the loop on quality.
Experience with Postgres or a similar relational database.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar.
Demonstrated strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
Experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, or Haskell is preferred.
Experience with Kubernetes is preferred.
Experience with Docker is preferred.
Experience with AWS is preferred.
Experience with Next.js is preferred.
Experience with React, Vue, or Angular is preferred.
