Description

Lead development of major team-scoped projects and contribute to cross-team initiatives for Remote's HR and Payroll products.
Participate in product discussions by providing technical feedback, suggesting solutions, and identifying product improvements.
Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
Review code and contribute to the shared codebase.
Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
Participate in support rotations, hiring processes, RFC discussions, and other non-team engineering activities.
Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers.
Investigate, propose, and implement platform improvements.
Implement interfaces with performance, accessibility, and API design in mind.
Design and operationalize agentic workflows end to end, including spec, planning, execution, and verification.
Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives across the codebase so they can be applied across domains.
Use tests, checks, evaluations, and guardrails to ensure solutions are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.

Requirements

Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them through iteration.
Ability to think in systems: define specs clearly, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
Experience with Postgres or a similar database.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar.
Demonstrated strong automation and AI capabilities, with AI fluency.
Experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, or Haskell is preferred.
Experience with Kubernetes is preferred.
Experience with Docker is preferred.
Experience with AWS is preferred.
Experience with Next.js is preferred.
Experience with React, Vue, or Angular is preferred.
