Description

  • Lead technical initiatives and drive the strategy and execution of medium to large-scale backend projects.
  • Design and deliver backend solutions that balance business goals, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Own key project segments or end-to-end projects with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Mentor and guide engineers across levels to support their technical growth and build a culture of excellence.
  • Champion best practices in coding, system design, and architecture to improve engineering methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrations and maintain system performance.
  • Build high-quality solutions that improve system performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Support junior and semi-senior engineers through collaboration, continuous learning, and shared ownership.
  • Drive improvements in engineering practices and share technical expertise across teams.
  • Solve highly complex, ambiguous technical problems.
  • Promote and apply AI-assisted engineering practices to improve productivity, code quality, and team velocity.
  • Experiment with new approaches and drive innovation in the team.

Requirements

  • Academic background in computer science, engineering, or software development disciplines.
  • Strong backend development experience with Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and AWS.
  • Python experience is a plus.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming.
  • Track record in hands-on backend engineering roles.
  • Experience working on domains of medium to high complexity.
  • Solid understanding of web and mobile application fundamentals, including security, session management, and development best practices.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems and object-oriented programming.
  • Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design; familiarity with microservice architecture is a plus.
  • Experience conducting code reviews, sharing knowledge, and promoting collaborative development practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and learn rapidly across diverse web technologies.
  • Proven ability to design complex distributed applications for high performance, throughput, scalability, and reliability.
  • Practical experience applying AI frameworks in development projects.
  • Experience profiling and performance tuning Java applications, plus using monitoring tools in production.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
  • High autonomy and accountability, with the ability to lead technical decisions and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Proven mentorship capability for junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, frontend, product, design, backend, and infrastructure.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and complexity with a focus on continuous learning and system improvement.
  • Alignment with company values of ownership, excellence, adaptability, and innovation.
  • Practical familiarity with financial domains such as lending, payments, credit cards, open finance, fraud prevention, merchant acquiring, or investment services is desirable.
  • Experience with real-time transaction processing, loan management engines, payment orchestration, settlement and reconciliation services, or KYC/AML-compliant onboarding pipelines is highly desirable.
  • Experience designing secure, auditable, and scalable APIs for internal and external consumers is highly desirable.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, and LGPD into compliant backend architectures is highly desirable.
