Description

  • Oversee accounting functions including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end and year-end close.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage revenue recognition under ASC 606, including subscription and curriculum-product revenue.
  • Maintain complete and accurate reconciliations, records, and supporting documentation.
  • Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and support reliable reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and other applicable requirements.
  • Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and tools for efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead or support ERP implementations, upgrades, and related process changes.
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA designation.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2-3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations.
  • Experience in a private-equity-backed or high-growth company environment.
  • Experience applying ASC 606 revenue-recognition guidance.
  • Strong proficiency with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fully remote environment.
  • Experience leading and developing accounting professionals.
  • Experience in education technology, SaaS, or another subscription-based business (preferred).
  • Experience with Ramp or a comparable expense-management platform (preferred).
  • Experience supporting external audits and tax processes (preferred).
  • Experience supporting private-equity reporting or investor-relations requirements (preferred).
  • Experience leading ERP implementations, upgrades, or accounting-system transformations (preferred).
