Description

  • Spend the first 2 to 4 weeks of each engagement doing the operator’s job to learn the workflow from the inside.
  • Work directly with operators and Forward Deployed Executives to redesign functions from first principles.
  • Ship production GenAI systems in customer environments, including LLM applications, agentic workflows, retrieval pipelines, and structured-extraction systems.
  • Build evaluation harnesses and define success metrics before implementing features.
  • Write production code across backend services, data pipelines, and AI layers.
  • Deploy and maintain cloud-native systems on AWS, with GCP or Azure where needed.
  • Drive adoption and change management so the delivered system is actually used by the business unit.
  • Own outcomes against business KPIs rather than hours worked or scope delivered.
  • Feed learnings from client engagements back into Provectus industry blueprints.
  • Partner with customer engineers, operators, executives, and internal leaders to shape commitments and delivery plans.

Requirements

  • 8+ years building software, with substantial experience writing production code you were accountable for.
  • Willingness to spend weeks doing the customer’s operational work before writing code.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar business domains quickly enough to challenge subject-matter experts.
  • Experience shipping GenAI or LLM systems to production, not just demos or notebooks.
  • Experience building or owning an evaluation suite for a non-deterministic system.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Cloud-native delivery experience on AWS, including containers, Kubernetes or ECS, IaC, and CI/CD; GCP or Azure is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with senior stakeholders, including BU heads and CTOs.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and strong ownership in underspecified engagements.
  • Solid AI/ML foundations and understanding of model failure modes.
  • Hands-on production experience with Claude Code and/or Cowork.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Prior experience as a founder, CTO, or engineering leader who returned to individual contribution is a plus.
  • Deep experience in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or asset management is a plus.
  • Consulting, professional services, or other embedded customer-facing delivery experience is a plus.
  • Data platform depth in data lakes, warehouses, streaming, real-time analytics, data mesh, data contracts, governance, and data quality is a plus.
  • MLOps and classical ML experience with PyTorch, SageMaker, or MLflow is a plus.
  • Experience with fine-tuning, distillation, or inference and serving optimization is a plus.
  • Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j or AWS Neptune is a plus.
  • IaC depth with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform is a plus.
  • Open-source contributions or public writing on applied AI is a plus.
