Description

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and leaders on policies, employee relations, and people operations.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states, with primary responsibility for California requirements.
  • Develop, update, and manage company policies, the Employee Handbook, and state-specific addenda.
  • Prepare and submit HR compliance reports and maintain readiness for government contracting requirements and audits.
  • Lead employee relations investigations, corrective actions, and broader HR risk mitigation efforts.
  • Manage I-9s, employment eligibility, personnel files, and HR recordkeeping accuracy.
  • Administer benefit programs, open enrollment, compensation actions, and leave programs including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leaves.
  • Partner with recruiting and leadership on workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and succession planning.
  • Track and report HR metrics such as turnover, hiring velocity, demographics, DEI trends, and engagement indicators.
  • Own and improve HR systems, workflows, dashboards, and digital documentation processes across platforms such as Unanet and Paycom.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of progressive HR generalist or manager experience, preferably in government contracting.
  • Strong expertise in California employment law, including wage and hour, meal/rest, leave, pay transparency, PTO, and termination rules.
  • Experience supporting dispersed or remote workforces across multiple states.
  • Proven experience in HR compliance, employee investigations, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience with Unanet and Paycom is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline onboarding and offboarding workflows.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting DoD and Navy programs is highly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
