Description

  • Connect product strategy, roadmap, and day-to-day operations for digital fundraising and membership systems.
  • Translate fundraising goals into product priorities, success metrics, and technical decisions.
  • Bridge development and product teams to build, optimize, and maintain donation and membership experiences.
  • Define key metrics, orchestrate systems for trusted data and insights, and report on progress and results.
  • Use data, technical knowledge, research, and experimentation to improve acquisition, conversion, average gift size, recurring gifts, and retention.
  • Lead cross-functional work with engineers, designers, and analysts to define outcomes, write requirements, and deliver scalable products.
  • Steward the systems that power membership revenue, including donation platforms, payment processing, messaging, personalization, experimentation tools, and data integrations.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party platforms and vendors, including decisions to build, buy, or integrate new systems.
  • Configure integrations, automations, and no-code solutions, and partner with engineers on deeper integrations when needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing consumer, subscriber, or donor-supported products with complex user journeys and conversion funnels.
  • Experience working across technical and nontechnical teams and navigating competing priorities through influence and trust.
  • Comfort selecting, integrating, and improving third-party platforms across CRM, CDP, ESP, A/B testing, and payments.
  • Experience with tools such as Salesforce, Braze, Piano, and Stripe.
  • Ability to discuss system architecture, APIs, schema, and data models with engineers.
  • Strong product judgment informed by data, experimentation, and qualitative insights.
  • Analytical rigor and hands-on experience with analytics platforms and experimentation tools.
  • SQL fluency or other advanced data analysis skills is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize work and manage dependencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curiosity and adaptability, with interest in how membership revenue sustains independent journalism.
  • Ability to travel as needed for team summits, meetings, and training.
  • Media or nonprofit experience is a plus.

Benefits

  • Expected salary range of $90,000 to $145,000.
  • Full-time role with benefits.
  • Open to remote candidates.
  • Based in New York, with offices in New York City, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, and Berkeley, California.
  • Covered under a collective bargaining agreement with The NewsGuild of New York, Local 31003, CWA, AFL-CIO.
