Description

  • Architect and evolve backend systems using Scala, Play, Postgres, and AWS.
  • Design and deploy scalable APIs and AI-assisted services.
  • Own feature development from ideation through production.
  • Build frontend features with React, Chakra, Storybook, and modern state management tools.
  • Develop and maintain agent-driven development workflows and internal engineering tooling.
  • Use Claude Code, Codex, and similar tools to accelerate implementation, debugging, and refactoring across multiple sessions.
  • Create prompts, tooling, and engineering systems that improve velocity and code quality.
  • Optimize performance across frontend, backend, and AI-assisted pipelines.
  • Help define best practices for AI-native software development.
  • Lead a small team of 2–3 engineers in the future and shape how they work with AI.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend experience with Scala, or Java, Ruby, or C#.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript and React.
  • Experience building and scaling SaaS products.
  • Deep familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
  • Comfort working in multi-session, agent-driven workflows.
  • Strong judgment on when to rely on AI versus manual implementation.
  • Experience designing systems, not just implementing features.
  • Excellent written communication for an async-first culture.
  • Must live in a timezone between UTC -6 and UTC+2.
  • Bonus: experience with functional programming.
  • Bonus: experience building internal dev tools or platforms.
  • Bonus: experience designing prompt systems or reusable AI workflows.
  • Bonus: strong opinions about how coding will change over the next 3–5 years and the ability to act on them.
