Description

  • Define and drive the technical architecture for both the mature search platform and the evolving RAG solution.
  • Make key decisions on scaling, infrastructure, and product evolution.
  • Solve complex technical issues escalated by the engineering team.
  • Guide technology choices and evaluate new tools and approaches, including AI-assisted development.
  • Own deployment strategy, operational readiness, and infrastructure reliability across engineering initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of 6 experienced engineers, including 5 developers and 1 solutions engineer.
  • Conduct code and design reviews and provide technical feedback.
  • Review technical requirements in enterprise contracts and handle security questionnaires and compliance requirements such as SOC2 and GDPR.
  • Lead SOC 2 compliance efforts and audits.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, product, sales, and marketing leadership on product roadmap and priorities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time in technical leadership roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
  • Working knowledge of Java/Kotlin, Python, and AWS, or the ability to ramp up quickly.
  • Experience with AI/ML systems, particularly RAG architectures, LLMs, and prompt engineering.
  • Track record of leading senior engineering teams.
  • Comfort working in enterprise B2B environments with contracts, SLAs, security reviews, and compliance requirements.
  • Ambition and curiosity about product direction and customer problems, not only technical implementation.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Prior CTO or VP Engineering experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Dropwizard, FastAPI, MySQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Terraform, or Pulumi is preferred.
  • Familiarity with LangChain, LangSmith, LangFuse, or similar observability and evaluation tools is preferred.
  • Background in search, information retrieval, or a related domain is preferred.
  • Experience scaling products from early traction to enterprise maturity is preferred.
