Description

  • Lead 3D character art and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across narrative, design, and other disciplines.
  • Mentor, coach, and inspire a team of artists through all phases of production.
  • Create safe processes for feedback, growth, and creative debate within the team.
  • Develop scalable art workflows and maintain a high art quality bar internally and with partner studios.
  • Provide craft and process guidance to motivate the team and improve execution.
  • Collaborate effectively across disciplines using a team-first mindset.
  • Develop internal and external style guides and workflows for game asset creation.
  • Manage teams through the creation of character art assets.
  • Stay accountable to the art director’s visual goals and direction.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of character art decisions that matter to competitive players in action or fighting games.
  • Proven experience in an early AAA game development leadership role.
  • Experience leading art teams that include 3D character art, character customization, and NPCs.
  • Strong understanding of stylized art and the ability to adapt style as needed.
  • Expert knowledge of Maya, Blender, or Max, plus Substance.
  • Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strategic and critical thinking with a proactive, investigative mindset.
  • Experience helping create or establish character customization in Unreal and scaling content with outsourcing companies.
  • Platformer genre development experience is preferred.
  • Experience working on a game with a high-angle isometric camera perspective is preferred.
  • Experience leading multiple teams on a live game or game-as-a-service title is preferred.
