Description

  • Design and drive responsible AI projects to identify, avoid, and mitigate bias across a range of ML applications at Pinterest.
  • Work on GenAI product evaluations, foundation model safety fine-tuning and alignment, and red teaming efforts.
  • Collaborate with Trust and Safety, ML Platform, Content Understanding, Search, and Homefeed teams to adopt Responsible AI practices and ML fairness tooling.
  • Leverage existing platforms and signals across the company to support Responsible AI evaluations and implementation.
  • Mentor junior engineers on the Responsible AI team and across the company.
  • Partner with senior leaders to define and drive technical strategy for Responsible AI.
  • Help bring state-of-the-art AI and ML research into product impact and business metrics.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience on engineering teams building large-scale ML-driven user-facing products.
  • 1+ years of experience leading cross-team engineering efforts.
  • Extensive real-world experience applying advanced ML methods to production systems.
  • Strong track record in responsible technology, including fairness, ethics, and broader societal considerations.
  • Deep familiarity with transformer-based models, 2-tower architectures, LLMs, and VLMs.
  • Experience with large-scale Search and Recommender Systems.
  • Proven ability to measure, deploy, and refine fairness interventions and Responsible AI solutions at scale.
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Publications at top ML conferences are preferred.
  • Experience using Cursor, Copilot, Codex, or similar AI coding assistants is preferred.
  • Familiarity with LLM-powered productivity tools for documentation search, experiment analysis, SQL/data exploration, and workflow acceleration is preferred.
  • Expertise in scalable real-time systems that process streaming data is preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $189,721 to $332,012 USD for US-based applicants.
  • Equity eligibility in addition to base salary.
  • Remote-friendly working model with in-office collaboration only 1-2 times per quarter.
  • Position can be situated anywhere in the United States.
  • Flexible PinFlex work model with periodic in-person collaboration.
