PackageX: Transforming logistics with AI-powered cloud platform for end-to-end efficiency in operations.

Professional Services
11-50
Founded 2018

Description

  • Lead onsite technical discovery of robotics cells, controls, safety systems, sensors, throughput, and physical constraints.
  • Design, build, and commission control and motion logic for palletizing and sortation systems.
  • Own functional safety activities, including risk assessments, safeguarding, emergency stops, interlocks, and safety documentation.
  • Develop command and telemetry integrations between PackageX, robot controllers, PLCs, fleet managers, conveyors, and sortation systems.
  • Translate computer vision outputs into safe machine actions, including handling uncertainty and incorrect classifications.
  • Design for operational failure modes such as dropped connections, partial task completion, and mismatches between system and physical state.
  • Build operator interfaces that display robot-driven work and surface exceptions for human intervention.
  • Create documentation, test coverage, and internal training to support reliable handoff and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Represent PackageX independently with enterprise customers and communicate technical constraints, progress, and tradeoffs.

Requirements

  • Production experience programming and commissioning industrial robots, such as Yaskawa Motoman, Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or Universal Robots.
  • Strong knowledge of robot motion, including kinematics, coordinate frames, tool center points, path planning, singularities, payload limits, collision avoidance, and pallet patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with teach pendants and production robot behavior.
  • Functional safety expertise, including ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, risk assessment, safety-rated stops, performance levels, and safety PLCs.
  • Controls integration experience with PLCs, industrial protocols, sensors, conveyors, sortation, and working-cell electrical systems.
  • Production experience with ROS or ROS 2 and knowledge of when ROS is unsuitable for industrial applications.
  • Strong Python and C++ skills, plus production services experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Go, or Python.
  • Experience with event-driven integrations using REST, gRPC, MQTT, WebSockets, vendor SDKs, controller APIs, OPC UA, or industrial fieldbuses.
  • Ability to build functional operator interfaces in React or a similar framework.
  • Experience working with computer vision systems and reasoning about latency, confidence thresholds, false positives, and uncertainty in machine control.
  • Strong customer-facing communication, onsite enterprise delivery experience, documentation skills, and willingness to work around customer shift patterns.
  • Ability to balance reusable product capabilities, bespoke solutions, commercial constraints, and delivery timelines.

Benefits

  • Three-month contract engagement.
  • Remote position based in the United States.
  • Opportunity to work directly with the Chief Technology & AI Officer.
  • Customer-facing role integrating robotics, vision AI, and physical logistics operations.
