Description

  • Define the engineering strategy and technical roadmap for the autonomous construction robotics stack.
  • Own architecture decisions across localization, planning, controls, and safeguarding.
  • Make build-vs-reuse-vs-buy decisions for critical subsystems and drive execution.
  • Design safeguarding systems and safety architectures for heavy autonomous equipment.
  • Work with mechatronics, platform, and field operations teams on integration, bring-up, and field validation.
  • Identify shared approaches across autonomy programs to improve code reuse and engineering velocity.
  • Mentor and elevate engineers across the team.
  • Shape foundational architecture decisions for new autonomy systems.
  • Lead technical bets that determine whether systems work in the field, not just in simulation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or related industries, or equivalent depth with fewer years and a graduate degree.
  • Experience architecting and shipping autonomous systems in production.
  • Strong technical judgment across multiple areas of the robotics stack.
  • Ability to make architecture and engineering decisions across team boundaries.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and drive ill-defined problems to completion.
  • Strong software skills with production code in compiled languages.
  • Strong opinions about software architecture, testing, and code quality.
  • Experience with off-highway, construction, or agriculture autonomy (preferred).
  • Deep familiarity with autonomous vehicle safety practices, including hazard analysis, safe behavior design, and runtime monitoring (preferred).
  • Experience building and scaling robotics teams and codebases from early-stage to production (preferred).

  • Base salary range of $174,000 to $305,000 per year.
