Description

  • Lead technical vision and software architecture for multi-quarter robotics initiatives.
  • Architect, design, and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant robotics systems covering areas such as motion planning, controls, state estimation, spatial awareness, and fleet management.
  • Collaborate with Deere engineering groups to modify vehicle safety behavior, control vehicles, and access data signals that improve autonomy.
  • Partner with robotics, perception, machine learning, hardware, systems engineering, and product teams to define requirements, interfaces, and validation plans.
  • Establish coding standards, automated testing, continuous integration, and production deployment practices.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, clean-code practices, and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Monitor advances in robotics, AI/ML, dynamic controls, and real-time computing to guide platform improvements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years in a Principal or Staff-level role in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or heavy machinery automation.
  • Expert proficiency in modern C++ and Python in Linux-based environments.
  • Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS 2 or CyberRT and robotics domains such as motion planning, kinematics, trajectory generation, localization, perception, or control theory.
  • Experience developing multithreaded C++ applications, basic IPC, and hardware- or sensor-integrated software involving devices such as LIDAR, cameras, IMUs, or GPS.
  • Ability to design system architecture and debug complex hardware-software integration issues.
  • Ability to balance long-term architecture with short-term delivery and build alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in computer science, robotics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with RTOS, low-latency optimization, memory management, and real-time networking such as CAN or Ethernet is preferred.
  • Experience with simulation environments, HIL testing, sensor fusion, or functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 is preferred.

  • Salary range of $174,000–$305,000 per year, depending on qualifications and location.
