Description

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning by developing and maintaining financial models.
  • Review monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and KPI reporting for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare financial performance reporting for leadership, board, and investor materials as needed.
  • Build and maintain financial reports and dashboards to improve visibility into business performance.
  • Oversee financial and operational systems, including QuickBooks and CRM tools, and support tool enhancements.
  • Manage user access, licenses, and renewals for organizational software tools.
  • Identify friction points in internal workflows and design, implement, and own process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a repository of internal systems and processes to support training and onboarding.
  • Serve as the primary internal contact for accounting, tax, and legal vendors.
  • Coordinate compliance workflows across jurisdictions, including entity setups, tax filings, registrations, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Support new hire onboarding, compensation processes, and company-wide events and offsites.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of experience in finance, operations, or finance/operations roles in a startup or scaling organization.
  • Strong financial fluency with at least a basic understanding of core accounting concepts and workflows.
  • Proven track record of driving transformative improvements to operational processes and/or systems.
  • Hands-on experience with financial and operational systems such as CRMs, ERPs, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to build and maintain financial models, forecasts, and reporting frameworks.
  • Proactive ownership of a variety of internal processes and workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy and reliability.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work from home or a shared office with fast, stable internet.
  • Preference for candidates based in Africa or Europe time zones.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements, with the ability to review and pressure-test external accounting outputs (preferred).
  • Experience supporting finance and operations for international, multi-entity corporate structures (preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce, Odoo, QuickBooks, and/or Oracle (preferred).
  • Experience working with external accounting, tax, and legal vendors (preferred).
  • Background in digital public goods, open source, government digital transformation, or NGO technology teams in Africa, Asia, or Latin America (preferred).
