Description

  • Build and re-architect the next-generation risk platform in Java from the ground up.
  • Design and implement internal risk monitoring and management systems for real-time market data analysis, PnL and risk calculations, alerting, reporting, circuit-breaking, and high availability.
  • Optimize existing risk control frameworks and logic to improve efficiency and reduce losses during market volatility.
  • Collaborate with risk managers and product managers to gather feedback and iterate on the risk management system.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects with trading desk developers, risk managers, operations teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee project progress and deliver high-quality solutions on time.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices for building and maintaining risk control systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative trading or front-office technology roles at exchanges, banks, or investment institutions.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Combined background in finance is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, instruments, PnL, margin, leverage, and market risk.
  • Prior experience building or operating risk systems is a strong plus.
  • Advanced Python skills.
  • Java proficiency is strongly preferred for the greenfield re-platforming work.
  • Experience with SQL, Redis, and Kafka.
  • Familiarity with major cloud platforms such as AliCloud or AWS.
  • Practical experience with RESTful APIs and web services.
  • Comfortable working in Linux/Unix shell environments.
  • Familiarity with agentic programming concepts and actively using LLM-powered coding agents or similar tools in day-to-day work or through serious self-directed learning.
  • Hands-on use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex on real production work is a significant plus.
  • Strong aptitude for risk control and compliance, with the ability to adapt systems to evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Strong logical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and align resources to solve complex problems and achieve cross-departmental objectives.
  • Experience designing internal control and risk management systems for banks, hedge funds, or exchanges is a nice to have.
  • Familiarity with auditing reports and working alongside compliance teams, regulatory bodies, or external auditors is a nice to have.
  • Exposure to event contract markets, prediction markets, or binary-options pricing such as Polymarket or Kalshi is a nice to have.
  • Strong understanding of blockchain technology, smart contracts, and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem is a nice to have.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent are a nice to have.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English and Mandarin is a nice to have.
