Description

  • Work alongside the sales team as the technical and domain expert for customer-facing sales engagements.
  • Understand customer challenges and business issues, then deliver product demonstrations aligned to their needs.
  • Answer product feature and technical questions from customers, partners, and internal colleagues.
  • Plan and deliver proof-of-concepts for complex customer use cases, coordinating with other engineering teams as needed.
  • Provide feedback to product management on enhancements that address customer needs and add value.
  • Share best practices and reusable assets with other Solutions Engineers to improve team quality and efficiency.
  • Stay current on competitive analysis and market differentiation.
  • Support marketing events such as executive briefings, conferences, user groups, and trade shows.
  • Develop, position, and demonstrate product-specific solutions during sales cycles.
  • Help achieve quarterly and annual sales goals for an assigned territory.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience selling SaaS products.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role such as consulting or support, ideally in pre-sales.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas quickly and clearly, including on the fly using a whiteboard.
  • Experience with at least one standard network security protocol such as OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, or LDAP.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: web development, mobile development, backend development, or IP-based real-time communications.
  • Understanding of core application security concerns such as password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, and XSRF.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Confidence presenting technical knowledge to highly skilled and experienced audiences.
  • Typically 25% travel required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field is preferred.

  • Annual base salary range of $160,000 to $220,000 USD for candidates in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington.
