Description

  • Manage a team of 10–15 actuaries and defined benefit specialists, including performance, service quality, feedback, and salary reviews.
  • Set team goals, monitor performance metrics, and balance quality, timeliness, and team capacity.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members through ongoing feedback and support.
  • Model Nova’s values and policies and help shape team processes and expectations.
  • Partner with Combo Account Management, Sales, and leadership teams on DB and combo plan work.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex defined benefit and combo plan service issues.
  • Monitor new and proposed retirement plan regulations and legislation.
  • Oversee DB plan terminations and develop strategies to streamline the process.
  • Build efficient processes for accurate DB plan distribution packages.
  • Coordinate client special projects and support the annual broker cash balance plan webinar.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of retirement plan industry experience, including substantial defined benefit, cash balance, or combo plan administration experience.
  • 5+ years of supervisory or management experience in the retirement plan field.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, accounting, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, and nondiscrimination testing, including ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy, and 401(a)(4).
  • Ability to interpret pre-approved and individually designed plan documents.
  • Relevant credentials such as NIPA, ASPPA, EA, ASA, or other actuarial or retirement plan credentials preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize work toward weekly goals in a results-oriented environment.
  • Strong research, analytical, critical-thinking, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical staff, coach others, and make decisions in complex client situations.
  • Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer and work from within the United States.

  • Base salary of $120,000–$150,000.
