Description

  • Own the New Relic query language stack, including grammar parsing, compilation, and processing.
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration with AI, Visualizations, and Data Processing teams to evolve the query language.
  • Build and maintain scalable distributed Java services and petabyte-scale infrastructure.
  • Investigate and resolve performance, availability, and resiliency issues in a multi-region, multi-cloud, multi-tenant distributed database.
  • Operate in an agile DevOps environment and share responsibility for on-call support.
  • Own software quality and reliability from development through production support.
  • Help keep critical systems stable and responsive while supporting new products and data streams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in collaborative software development.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and modern software design and development methodologies.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership over code and commitments.
  • Ability to work deeply in the command line and troubleshoot broken systems.
  • Experience working in Java, or equivalent experience in an object-oriented language such as C++ or C#.
  • Experience developing and operating within a 24x7 SaaS business (preferred).
  • Experience or interest in database implementation, distributed systems, and query language grammar, compilation, and execution (preferred).
  • Experience with observability tools and platforms (preferred).
  • Experience working in public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP (preferred).
  • Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker (preferred).
  • Experience working asynchronously in distributed teams across regions (preferred).
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
