Description

  • Architect and lead the development of critical systems, services, and infrastructure with a focus on reliability, security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Partner with product and program leaders to align engineering solutions with user needs, regulatory requirements, and business outcomes.
  • Set and evolve technical standards across the organization.
  • Address technical debt, guide code review quality, and improve team velocity and code quality.
  • Coach and mentor engineers across teams to support craft growth and career development.
  • Investigate and evaluate new technologies to drive innovation, simplify complexity, and support scale.
  • Contribute directly to codebases, especially in architectural foundations, prototypes, and high-risk areas.
  • Facilitate collaboration, identify gaps, and unblock teams without taking over.
  • Uphold and strengthen the engineering culture through curiosity, learning, integrity, and positive team dynamics.
  • Help recruit and onboard exceptional talent.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience as an engineer across multiple tech stacks.
  • Deep experience building and scaling distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to operate as a technical leader without formal authority.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, observability, automated testing, and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with cloud-native systems, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Solid knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Demonstrated success in a highly regulated environment, preferably healthcare, with understanding of compliance and data protection such as HIPAA.
  • Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator, comfortable representing engineering in executive conversations and product strategy.
  • Passion for teaching, mentoring, and cultivating a high-trust, high-autonomy team environment.
