Description

  • Drive processes and architectural decisions that enable scalable, repeatable spacecraft production and mission operations.
  • Partner with Mission Systems Engineers to own and track V&V compliance, verification progress, and test coverage campaigns.
  • Identify verification and validation bottlenecks and improve AI&T workflows using pragmatic Test Like You Fly standards.
  • Analyze on-orbit telemetry and platform operations to maximize utility and capacity from deployed assets.
  • Ensure on-orbit performance matches pre-flight models and validate the accuracy of customer-facing specifications.
  • Feed on-orbit performance data back into the design of future platform iterations.
  • Improve autonomy and resilience capabilities to increase customer uptime and reduce operator workload.
  • Support internal tooling roadmaps and extend code for tools such as MuSim, power analysis, and data throughput modeling.
  • Make pragmatic prioritization decisions that balance engineering pain points with revenue and gross margin impact.

Requirements

  • M.S. or higher in an engineering field.
  • 8+ years of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Exposure to mission design, spacecraft operations, and systems architecture.
  • Experience with deployed systems in the field in high-reliability, performance-critical environments.
  • Strong AI&T and V&V experience, including defect escape rates and test coverage tracking.
  • Deep understanding of spacecraft autonomy, fault management architectures, and integration of FSW and GSW.
  • Strong software skills in Python, Julia, or similar languages, with the ability to build on existing codebases.
  • Experience modeling system performance such as power, thermal, and data throughput and validating models against on-orbit data.
  • Excellent communication and prioritization skills with the ability to balance technical risk and business constraints.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience as a lead systems engineer or technical stakeholder in an agile environment (preferred).
  • Remote sensing instrument experience across optical, multispectral, or RF modalities and associated data pipelines (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience developing, extending, or using complex simulation environments (preferred).
  • Familiarity with software engineering tools and processes such as version control and code review (preferred).
  • Must meet U.S. export control eligibility requirements for access to controlled information.
