Description

  • Lead, grow, and retain a team of 8–10 engineers.
  • Own hiring, performance management, career development, and team delivery cadence.
  • Set technical direction through RFCs, design docs, and execution plans.
  • Define metrics, measure changes, and use experimentation to validate outcomes.
  • Partner with data scientists on forecasting, optimisation, personalisation, and prediction.
  • Design highly concurrent, low-latency systems for real-time throughput.
  • Safeguard data consistency, performance, and system reliability.
  • Own root-cause analysis, observability, staging/E2E validation, and CI/CD practices.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, data science, and engineering partners on strategy and delivery.
  • Balance immediate delivery needs with long-term architectural stability.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineering teams.
  • Experience leading teams that ship reliable, high-scale backend or distributed systems.
  • Strong grasp of data science, statistics, experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, and optimisation/ML concepts.
  • Solid fundamentals in distributed systems, concurrency, event-driven architectures, and CAP theorem trade-offs.
  • Ability to read and reason about production code and data using SQL and a backend language such as Go, Python, or Ruby.
  • Strong first-principles problem-solving skills and experience balancing reliability, latency, scaling, and cost.
  • Bias toward shipping early and iterating with small, incremental changes.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, align stakeholders, and operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.
  • Experience in logistics, ride-hailing, quick commerce, or marketplaces is preferred.
  • Background as a strong IC in backend or distributed systems is preferred.
