Description

  • Build and maintain machine learning and optimization models for supply-demand matching, pricing, recommendations, ETA prediction, and marketplace optimization.
  • Contribute to the conversational AI behind Butler by modeling customer intent from text, voice, and image inputs.
  • Design and run A/B tests and quasi-experimental analyses to inform pricing, matching, recommendations, and Butler decisions.
  • Engineer high-signal features from messy operational, geospatial, pricing, and conversational data.
  • Own models through the full production lifecycle, including data pipelines, training, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, DevOps, operations, and other data science squads to deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Diagnose live operational issues such as mispriced brackets or elevated failure rates in specific cities.
  • Monitor model and metric health, add logging and observability, and improve reliability of analysis and deployment practices.
  • Identify and implement incremental improvements to measurement, modeling, and data science processes.

Requirements

  • 3 to 4 years of non-internship professional data science or machine learning experience in fast-paced startups or high-scale tech companies.
  • Strong command of A/B test design, power analysis, and quasi-experimental methods such as diff-in-diff, instrumental variables, and synthetic control.
  • Strong grounding in forecasting and at least one of operations research or reinforcement learning applied to allocation, matching, or pricing.
  • Proven ability to build, select, and maintain features from large, messy, real-world data.
  • Experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining machine learning pipelines in production.
  • Fluent in Python and SQL for large-scale data work.
  • Ability to think from first principles and balance trade-offs such as reliability, latency, and interpretability.
  • Bias toward shipping early and iterating with small, incremental changes.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Preferred experience in quick commerce, marketplaces, logistics, ride-hailing, or on-demand delivery.
  • Preferred NLP or LLM experience, including intent classification, entity extraction, embeddings, or conversational and voice data.
  • Preferred experience with streaming or big-data tools such as Spark and Kafka, plus real-time inference.
